A Woman from Ashes

 Just like today, on November 20, 2016, I traveled to New York City. I received a visa on the occasion of the issuance of my first book, which was published in the USA/NY. At Athens Airport, the Greek police checked my belongings with great rudeness; one of them pushed me against the wall strongly, so he injured my shoulder. He was saying that my visa was fake, and I told him to call the embassy and dare to tell them that. I heard a young man from afar telling them, "She was our professor." 

I think it was the voice of Vaggelis, he was my student for an exam!  Then, someone came and told me, "Go away."Then, someone came and told me, "Go away." I bent down to pick up the documents on the floor, and my left shoulder was still hurting. The same person shouted at me again, told me again "Go away," and I left, what a left Lord!

On the plane, I was feeling terrible, extremely cold, and my blood pressure dropped. I said to myself, 'It's over; the long journey is finally over, and it was my first time going to the States.' When I arrived, the NY police welcomed me. My farmer publisher and my friend came to pick me up. I was extremely sad, and I wanted to cry, my eyes on the snowy night, and the high rhythm of life started to work on my being! 

A few days later, I experienced my first Thanksgiving, glory to God, and my trial, thank God again, I said thank God to become a citizen of NY. Grateful for my people from Brooklyn to Manhattan, for the homes and hugs close to me, my steady steps, my writings that have wings, that are not imprisoned, that if stolen, their aroma will still be felt because they carry spiritual and mental identity!

I thank every American New Yorker who contributed to my journey. Glory be our Lord, I am not proud; I am simply grateful. I celebrate the day I went to NY, but we are officially connected to NY. It is the city of my destiny that follows me; NY is the world! Happy Thanksgiving, guys.

Kurdish political thought, as an inseparable part of global human history and philosophical discourse, is shaped by elements that provide it with philosophical space and time of existence. These elements nurture the concept of the ‘Kurdish World,’ a universe of social structures that offer identity. A fundamental aspect of Kurdish political philosophy are the myths connected to the social and political existence of the Kurds, with the most emblematic being Kawa – the Promethean figure that embodies the Kurdish worldview and defines the identity of our people. The significance of this myth and its political implications are profound, as the festival associated with these events, Newroz, attests. The symbolism embedded in this renewal of nature and the awakening of the people’s rebellion engraves each Kurdish soul with a timeless essence. Pesheva Qazi The Promethean man acts as a symbol of the Kurdish political reality, bringing to light a narrative of resistance and self-determination. It is no coincidence that the Kurdish world strives to transcend the marginalization imposed on it since the 19th century, aiming to establish a state of law enriched with values and elements of the modern world, such as the Kurdish Republic of Mahabad in 1946. At the helm of this effort was Pesheva Qazi, who played a central role in the establishment of the rule of law. He was both a legislator and a thinker, embodying the values of Kurdish identity and emphasizing the pursuit of freedom, harmony, and justice. His significant presence shines light not only on his personal character, but also on his political actions, elevating the moral fabric of our culture. As a bold and wise leader, he underscores the Promethean element of the Kurdish world and connects us with modern values such as democracy, the social participation of both women and men, and the protection of children’s rights and the marginalized. His dedication to these values revitalizes the legacy of Kurdish thought, continuously igniting the flame of freedom that springs from every Kurdish soul and from the dawn of our mythical world and reflecting our political reality. The connection between political action and moral values reinforces the tradition of fighting against oppression, highlighting the need for ethical leaders. This promotion raises fundamental questions regarding the concept of ‘duty’ in politics – questions that grow increasingly relevant as various groups seek representation and justice. For the Kurds, this reference is not merely mythical; it is a vibrant political reality that is revived every spring, serving as a touchstone for political thought, democracy, and civic engagement. Aeschylus As a living people within the historical and political continuum, the Kurds share the ideals of Greek culture, particularly through Aeschylus’ masterpiece, Prometheus Bound. This connection is further strengthened when we consider the Promethean figure of the Kurds. Aeschylus, as a poet and a fighter who was present during the Persian Wars, challenged the tyrants of Athens, paying the price of exile and censorship for his work, showcasing his commitment to freedom of speech and thought. In Prometheus Bound, we find parallels that resonate strongly with Kurdish struggles. The figure of Prometheus symbolizes defiance against tyranny and oppression, just as the Kurds have persistently resisted attempts to erase their identity and autonomy. The themes of sacrifice for the greater good and the pursuit of justice in Aeschylus’ work reflect the enduring spirit of the Kurdish struggle for recognition and self-determination. The global fight for justice and equality Additionally, the modern Kurdish political landscape is marked by a resurgence of this Promethean spirit. Contemporary Kurdish leaders embody the same ethos of resistance, seeking not only autonomy, but also a broader social justice that transcends ethnic lines. The legacies of Kawa and Pesheva Qazi are a constant reminder of the moral and ethical foundation upon which the Kurdish political identity is built. The values they championed continue to inspire new generations in their pursuit of democracy, human rights, and social welfare. Moreover, as the Kurdish struggle for self-determination evolves, it increasingly intersects with the global fight for justice and equality. The lessons drawn from the Promethean myth serve as a guiding light for movements worldwide that seek to challenge systemic oppression and assert their rights. The Kurdish experience highlights the importance of building alliances and fostering solidarity with other marginalized communities, embodying the spirit of unity in diversity. The synthesis of the Promethean myth and Kurdish political thought forms a unique confluence that shapes both historical narrative and modern political action. It reflects the continuous journey of a people in search of identity, justice, and freedom. As the flame of this ancient narrative burns brightly in the contemporary world, it not only reaffirms the Kurdish commitment to their cause, but also resonates with the universal struggle for human dignity and rights. The Kurdish people, through their myths and modern political endeavors, stand as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the relentless pursuit of a just world.

 Whatever you need to put your legs on the earth again, you need again the same exercise that we called courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always something from those years to remind you of the endless corridors of darkness, the entirety of human pain and tears on the ashen leaves, that will make you cry once again. So walk again for peace, like the lonely ant that struggles in relentless earth for a piece of its winter supply, so do again the same exercise that we called courage. We have reached the month of December once again, the wounds are opening, the heart is in a tsunami of the season and pulses are rising again like sails in the absent light; it's time to shed more tears in this Holy season, to not forget here on this relentless Earth to map out a course of action and follow it to the end, so to try the same exercise that you know as courage!

 There's no doubt that if you can't say no, you're a potential victim of exploitation. Others will treat you as a doormat and no one will ask for your opinion – nor will they take it seriously when you give it yourself. Saying "no" reminds others that you are free, you put the issue of your freedom on your forehead, and that you have limits, as a human being, that auto respect for yourself is a non-negotiable values.I have my own name and history,I am Hiva Panahi. Under the persecution time in Athens, Greece

 

 

I couldn't deny the cold weather of 2012; it had permeated every part of my body with this unusual freezing, and my breaths came with difficulty, cold and endless glaciers. I was alone with my laptop feeling like the last stone of the world waiting to be blown down into the abyss; I looked with deep tenderness at my computer; it was the only thing I had, the only one that would be able to carry my voice and my appeals to the world from the cliff of life in this phase.
I looked at it and it stared at me, like those windows that were blowing in our backyard at my parent's home, while my heart was flooded with dreams. Now it's like I'm watching a tragic piece of cinema, a movie in the middle of winter, the voice of a Starbuck's employee: We will be closing in 10 minutes. With great gratitude I look at her and I say, "Okay". I leave the cafe and continue walking; the city of Athens is not the same at all, and my tears fall down. I say to myself, "Don't cry please," and take another sedative. My laptop and I would stay in the medical school reading room until morning again. I was counting the moments and awaiting my death in Athens.

Σήμερα έφτασε η τελευταία βαλίτσα μου από την ΝΥ. Την ανέβασα κι μερικά λεπτά γεμάτη συγκίνηση την κοίταζα. Λοιπόν, είχα κάποια σημαντικά βιβλία που είχα αγοράσει κατά την διάρκεια της παραμονής μου, κάτι ρούχα καλοκαιρινά μου και τετράδια γρατζουνισμένα με σκέψεις μέσα στα συνεχόμενα ταξίδια κι μετακινήσεις - μετακομίσεις, ακόμη σε καφενεία ή σε εστιατόρια που πήγαινα να φάω. Δεν θα ξεχάσω ποτέ το συναίσθημα της πεινάς της εποχής αυτής! Όλα με νοήματα, μοναξιά κι αγώνας παγκόσμιας κατάταξης άλλων ρυθμών!

كوردستان وناوچەكانی نیشتمانی كوردان لە ساڵی ۱۰۷۱ زایینی یەوە كە شەڕی ملازگردەوە تووشی نەهامەتی بەردەوام بووەوە و شەڕی چاڵدۆڕان، شەڕی یەكەم و دووهەمی جیهانی و شەڕی ئێران و عێراق، هەموو بوونەتە هۆی ماڵوێرانی بۆ ئێمەی كورد. شەڕی ملازگرد، لە نێوان ئالب ئەرسەلان سوڵتانی سەلجووقی و رۆمانۆس پادشای ئیمپراتۆری بیزانس روو دەدات بەڵام گۆڕانی گەورە لە گەڵ خۆی بۆ ناوچە دێنێ و هەر بۆیە كوردستان لەم شەڕەدا لە نێوان عەرەب و عەجەم و توركی سەلجووقی دا تووشی سەرگەردانییەكی مێژوویی دەكات. ئەمەش بە هۆی دابەشبوونی ئایینی ئەو دەم دەگەڕێتەوە. عەجەمەكان، واتە فارسەكان، هەتا ئێستەشی لە گەڵدا بێ نێوان ناكۆكیان هەیە لە گەڵ عەربی سوننه. كاتی خۆشی هەرچەندە لە بەر هەڵەی خەسرەوپەرویز و دەربارەكەی، كە بەردەوام خۆیان بە رابواردنی بێ ماناوە خەریك كردبوو و لەم نێوەدا دەستدرێژیان دەكردە سەر عەشیرە عەرەبەكان تا كچیان لێ بستێنن، دواتر، عەرەبەكانیش شەڕی سوپای خەسروە پەرویز دەكەن ونسكۆیان پێ دێنن. ئەمە عەرەبەكان بە هێز دەكات و ئاخری لە چەند رووبەڕووبوونەدوەدا ئیمپراتۆری فارس تەفرو توونا دەكەن. شێوەی هاتنی عەرەبەكان بۆ ناو ماڵی دەسەڵاتی عەجەم داستانی خۆی هەیە و بەڵام پاش دەیان ساڵ زاڵبوونی عەرەب هەر كێشەیان دەبێ لە سەر دەسەڵاتی ئایینی ئیسلام كە زۆربەی بەشەكانی ئەم ئایینە بۆخۆیان سازی دەكەن. ئەمەش، دوو ناوەندی دەسەڵاتی ئەو دەمی لێ دەكەوێتەوە لەخەڵیفە كانن:

لە كۆمەڵێ لە ناوچەكەكان، كە ستەم و دڵڕەقی عەرەب سنووی نەبووە، كورد هەوڵ دەدات بۆ پاراستنی پێناسی خۆی بێتە شیعه.‌ ئەمە لە حاڵێكدایە كە زۆر جێگه و ناوچەی دیكەدا كورد، بە داهێنانێكی فیكری و رەوتی فەلسەفی لەسەر چاند و بناخەكانی كەلتووری خۆی، شافعیەت پەیڕەو دەكات یا خود كۆمەڵێ لە كوردەكان هەوڵدەدەن لە ئایینی مەسیحی نەستۆری یان بە ئیزەدی بمێننەوە و پڕانی ئەم پێچ و پەناگەلە لە فەلەسەفەی مێژوودا پارادۆكسیان پێ دەگوترێ كە لە پشت هەر یەك لەم پێچ و پەناگەلەوە، دەیان هۆی مرۆڤی و خەون و هەست و نەستی شاردراوە هەن ناكرێ وا بە سادە وساكار باسیان لێوە بكەین.
ناوەندە و شارە گرینگەكانی شیعەكان بریتین لە:
نەجەف ئەشرەف، كوفە (لە نزیكی نەجەف و باكووری بەغدا، كەربەلا، كازمین
بۆ تێ گەیشتن لە قسەكانی نووری ماڵیكی دەبێ لە دوو شت مێژووی سیاسی ورد بینەوه ‌لە:

عیراق وەك وشە بە مانای زەوی ساف و تەخت ونزیك لە دەریا و ئاوە و "یاقووتی" مێژوو نووسی ناودار لە بەرهەمی بە نرخەكەی خۆیدا "الكامل فی التاریخ مجمع البدان" پێ وایە عیراق هەمان بابلی كۆنە. لە لایەكی دیكەوە لە سەدی ۱۰ زایینی دا عوسمانییەكان دەست بە سەردەسەڵاتی عەباسییەكان دادەگرن و كاربەدەستانی دەزگای عەباسی بە توندی سەركوت دەكەن و زۆربەی كارگێڕانی دەسەڵاتی عەباسی بۆ كۆمەڵێ لە وڵاتان دوور دەخەنەوە وەك سوریە، فەلەستین، میسر و شاری خوزستان. عەشیرەی بەنی جەمیل، لە عەرەبە دوورخراوەكان شاری خوزستان لە ساڵی ۱۷۲۴ دژ بە ئیمپراتۆری عۆسمانی رادەپەڕن ولە نزیكی 'دیجلە' ئیمارەتی "بەنی جەمیل" ئاوا دەكەنەوە. خەلیفەی عۆسمانی، ئەحمەد پاشا، وەزیری بەرگری دەنێرێ بۆ سەركوتیان كە دەبێتە هۆی تەفرو توونایان.سەرچاوەگەلی دیكەش دەڵێن ناوی عیراق یانێ دەریا یەك لە خورما كە ئەمش باسی چڕ وپڕی دارستانەكانی خورمای ناوچە دەكات.
گرینگی ناوچەكانی گەرمێنی هاوسنوور لەگەڵ وڵاتی ئێران و عیراق ئەمەیە كە بەشێكی گرینگی خاك و مێژووی كورد لەم ناوچەگەلەیە. یەك لەو شتانەی یاریدەری ئێمەیە بۆ ئەوەی هەوڵبدەین مێژووی تەفرو توونای گەلی كورد ساخ بكەیەنەوە هەر هەمان پارادۆكسە ئایینی یەكانە. هێندێك ناوچە لە كوردستان هەر لە كۆنەوە ئایینی جیاوازیان هەبووە لە گەڵ ناوچەكانی دیكە دا بۆیە ئەم ناوچە خۆی بە خاوەنی ناوچەی دیكە نەدەكرد وئەمەش بۆ كات وسات و زەمەنی خۆیان دەگەڕێنەوە. بوۆ نموونە پێش ئایینی پیرۆزی زەردەشت كوردەكان پەیڕەوی 'میترائیسم' بوون. خواوەندی خۆر لە ناو رەوتی مێژووشدا، هاتنی ئایینەكانی دیكەش وەرگرتیان بە پیرۆزی لە سەر هەمان بناخە خۆماڵییەكانی ئایینی دەبن. هەر بۆیەشە عیلامییەكان كە وەك دەگوترێ لە سەدەكانی شەشی پێش زایینەوە لەم ناوچەگەلە دەسەڵاتداربوون و پاشان گۆتییەكان له سەدەی سێهمی پێش زایین، هاتن. گەشەكردنی ئایینی زەدەشتی كوردی بۆ ئەو وەرچەرخانە گرینگە ئابووریی دەگەریێتەوە كە بە سەرهەڵدانی كشت و كاڵی ناوی دەركردووە كە بۆ یەكەمجار مرۆڤایەتی لە ولاتی نێوان دوو رووبار لە دەشتی كەركووك دا لە 'بەردە چەرموو' وەك سەرچاوەكان دەڵێن دەستی بە كێڵانی زەوی كرد و شارەكان بنیات نران.
ئەم رووداوە بۆ دوازدە تا دەهەزار ساڵ پێش دەگەڕێتەوە. وڵاتی نێوان دوو رووبار واتە 'دیجله ‌و فرات'. ستراڤۆنا مێژوو نووس و گەریدەی یوونانی كە لە دایك بووی ساڵی ۶۴ پێش زایینە و بەرهەمەكەی لە سەر جۆگرافیای سیاسی سەرجەم چل و هەفت بەرهەم لێ بەجێ ماوه،‌ لە كتێبی ژمارە هەفدەی خۆیدا ئاوا باسی ناوچەی خۆمان دەكات: "لە رۆژا ئاوای بابل دا، غۆردیەكان و ماددەكان دەژین. داوێنەكانی چیای زاغرۆس (واتە زاگرۆس) كە ناو دەنگیان هەیە لە بوێری و ئازایەتیدا. بە ناو وڵاتیاندا دەیان رووبار تێ دەپەڕێ كە گەورەترینی ئەم رووبارانە تیغریس و فراتە. وەك دەگوترێ پاش رووبارەكانی هیند ئەم دوو رووبارە مەزنترین رووبارەكانی باكووری ئاسیان. ئەم رووبارانە سەرچاوەی خێر و بەرەكەتن بۆ خەڵك تا ئیستەش لە گەڵ بێ لە شاری سەلوكیەدا كە ئەم شارە ناوەندی گرینگە بۆ كار وباری ئابووری لە ناوچە جۆر بە جۆرەكان. فارسەكان (پرسێس) لەم رووبارانە دەترسن چونكە هۆی لافاوی گەورەن بۆیە دەیان بەربەستی مەزنیان ساز كردبوو كە چی كاتێ ئەسكەندەر هات چەند رێگەی باریكەی بۆ ئەم رووبارانە ساز كرد وئەوەی فارسەكانی تێك دا". وشەی "تیغریس"، لە وشەی رەسەنی ماددەوە دێت بە ماناێ 'بڕینی بە هێز' هەر وەها فرات بە مانای 'كەف وفراوانی' یە.
سەردەمی توركانی سەلجوقی و بەكارهێنانی عێراق عەجەم و عەرەب:
لە ساڵی ۱۰۳۷زایینی دا كە توركانی سەلجوقی دەسەڵات دەگرنە دەست و بەهێزدەبن، بەكارهێنانی عیراق عەرەب و عەجەم وەك ناوی سیاسی و جۆگرافیایی بڵاوە دەكات. وەك حەمدۆڵا مستەوفی لە لە نزهت القلوب دا دەڵێ "شارەكانی عیراقی عەجەم چل شارن. وەلایەتەكانی ئازەربایجان، كوردستان و خوزستان و فارس كە لە ناو زنجیرە چیاكاندا بە یەكەوە دەبەسترێنەوە". عەجەمەكان، واتە فارسەكان هەر لە ئەو دەمەوە ناوچەكانی خۆمان واتە كوردستان بە بڕبڕەی پشتی دەسەڵاتیان دەزانن وەك چۆن لە میژووی سیاسی پاش ئیسلامیش دەردەكەوێ لە بەر هۆی ئەوەی لە ناو مكانیزمەكانی دەسەڵاتدا هەر خەریكی هەڵسووڕان بوون باوەڕیان بە نسكۆی هێنانی خۆیان لە بەرانبەر عەرەبەوە نەكردووە لە تاسە و پەریشانییەكی تایبەتدا دەژین كە دەیانهەوێ كورد و كوردستان ناوچەكانی بكەن بە قوربانی ئەم جۆر وشێوازە لە روانین بۆ دەسەڵات وگەل.
عیراقی عەرەب بەو ناوچە گەلە دەگوترێ كە سەرە ڕای ئەمەی عەرەب زمانن بە قەبووڵكردنی ئایینی شیعە ئەو شكست وتێكچوونە مێژووییەیان تێ پەڕاندووە. بەم شێوە نووری مالیكی كەسانی وەك ئەم كە لە ساڵانی رابردوودا لە وڵاتی بە ناو ئێران ژیاون، كوڕ و رۆڵەی ئەم فیكر و رۆحەن، كە نەك هەر كۆتایی پێ نایەت بەڵكەم وەك باسمان كرد مێژوو رەنگە دووبارە نەبێتەوە چونكە مرۆڤەكانی ناو رووداوەكە نەماون وشتەكان قەوماون بەڵام، بناخە فیكرییەكان وەك بنیات لە جۆری هەڵسووكەوتی سیاسی و ئایینی و كەلتووریدا هەر درێژە بە بوون دەدات هەر كات بارودۆخ بخوازێ ئەوە وەك گرفتی مەزن خۆیان دەردەخەن.

Today I learned that The Cross-Section: An Anthology of Contemporary Greek Poetry has-beens choose one of my poems and it has been published in 2015 in  San Francisco.  This anthology presents both veteran and younger Greek poets of this generation in a panorama of creative expression that enlightens the recent and continuing dark years of Greek economic strife through the imaginative and passionate inventions of the poets and their translators. Modern poetry can be said to have been begun in classical Greece, so the breaths in this book all have a profound resonance of roots of song growing and spreading to the vessels of reception on a sea of hearty and heartfelt lyrical waves.
